Hi there! I'm Marissa.
I use she/her pronouns.
I am interested in using design and actionable research to create more equity in our shared urban context.

I consider design a human-centered tool to both identify and address issues adversely affecting populations that are isolated from access to quality food, jobs, schools, healthcare, housing, and/or consistent transportation. My work aims to affect change at a local scale, focusing on how to better supplement community leaders' expertise with accessible tools and resources.

My goal is to celebrate the human in many forms: solitary, within groups, and as the most important part of an urban fabric as a whole. I am in conversation with the urban environment that we as a society have built for ourselves, and our behaviors and interactions within it.

I'm an interdisciplinary design researcher living in Philadelphia with a background in architecture and graphic design. I believe there is a strong link between design disciplines and continue to be invigorated by all the visual and spatial possibilities that open up when these disciplines collide.

I have a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from University of Florida. (To view projects I completed within my undergraduate major, check out my
architectural work.)
